Boris FX Suite

Educational License

The Boris FX Suite educational license is free to full-time students pursuing post-production. This license is good for 1 year and includes all our products — Continuum, CrumplePop, Mocha Pro, Optics, Sapphire, Silhouette, and SynthEyes. 

We use a 3rd party partner, Proxi.id, to verify eligibility with an accredited university.

Simply click the button below to apply. Create or log into your Boris FX account with your student email and you will be redirected to the verification page.

After your verification is approved, there is a $5.00 application fee to help with processing and keeping our academic program running.

What is the Boris FX Suite educational license?

At Boris FX, we strongly believe supporting students is critical to the success of post-production. That's why we are pleased to offer educational licenses for all currently enrolled and qualified students. 

If you a full-time student at an accredited university or college, and can verify your enrollment through our 3rd party authentication provider, we will be happy to provide you with a 12-month license to the Boris FX Suite. The Boris FX Suite includes Sapphire, Continuum, Mocha Pro, Silhouette, and Optics, and operates on any approved host application in Windows, macOS, and linux. 

The Boris FX Suite educational license is for self-learning only, and the license does not permit use for commercial work. For commercial work, please purchase a commercial license here. 
How do I apply for a Boris FX Suite educational license?

In order to qualify for a Boris FX Suite educational license, you must be a full-time student enrolled in an accredited university or college.

To apply click the button above and you will be redirected to our verification process. 

  • • Create or login to your Boris FX account with your student email.
  • • Once you hit continue you will be redirected to our 3rd party verification partner, Proxi ID. 
  • • Here you will click "start" and you will be prompted to enter in your university name and follow the prompts for your universities single-sign-on using your academic email credentials. 
  • • Once verified you will be redirected back to Boris FX and be able to checkout by submitting the $5 application fee.
  • • After checkout you will receive and email with your license information and activation key.

For students who's institution does not show on the list.

  • • Please click "Can't find your institution?" and enter your email address
  • • You will then be taken to the Proxi ID verification form 
  • • Please submit one of the following documents with your name and current school year:
    •  – Institution identification card (include picture of front & back)
    •  – Class registration
    •  – Class schedule
    •  – School bill

Professional Students:

For students or professionals currently enrolled at for-profit professional or trade school or a similar for-profit online site, we apologize that we are unable to offer you an educational license.

How do I renew my Boris FX Suite educational license?

The 12-month Boris FX Suite educational license does not renew automatically. To renew your Boris FX Suite Educational license, you will need to follow the same procedure as before and re-verify that you are a student and pay $5.00 application fee. 

The Boris FX Suite educational license is for self-learning only, and the license does not permit use for commercial work. For commercial work, please purchase a commercial license here. 
How long does it take to get my license?

Your educational license will arrive in your inbox within minutes of verifying and paying the $5.00 application fee. 
I don't have the correct email and/or documentation needed to qualify me as a student. What do I do?

We are sorry but we need students to prove their educational status in order to approve a Boris FX Suite education license. Any questions, comments, or concerns can be directed here https://www.proxi.id/support/. 
Does Boris FX offer any discounts for colleges and teachers?

To be eligible for Boris FX products at Higher Education Academic Pricing, you must meet the following requirements:

  • • Be a current college/university student or faculty member at an accredited college/university and enrolled or teaching in a film, broadcast, VFX, or multimedia program
  • • Be able to provide proof of academic status
  • • Communicate with Boris FX with an official email address issued to you by your accredited institution of higher education

 

Academic Discount Pricing

Academic licenses are to be used exclusively for teaching or learning the product. They cannot be used for commercial, business, or revenue-generating projects of any type.

  • • Continuum, Mocha, Optics Sapphire, and Silhouette: Students - Free with valid ID; $195 12-month subscription per product for schools/faculty. Please contact us for details on permanent license pricing or an academic site license.
Are there resources for learning to use the Boris FX Suite?

Yes, we offer tons of tutorials and documentation to get you up to speed. 
Does my license come with support? The educational license is not eligible for phone or email support. You can ask your questions in any of our forums for assistance.
